August is Kidney Disease Awareness Month!

About 14,400 people ( 9,470 men and 4,930 women) will die from kidney cancer. It is among the 10 most common cancers in both men and women. Overall, the lifetime risk for developing kidney cancer is about 1 in 63 (2.6%).

This risk is higher in men than women. For reasons that are not totally clear, the rate of new kidney cancer has been rising since the 1990s.

Medical Ministry wants you to know the risk factors of Kidney Cancer and what we can do to prevent. Please stop by the Foyer to receive more information or ask any of the Medical Ministry team members with any questions.

It was stated from Otis Brawley MD, FACP – Chief Medical & Scientific Officer of American Cancer Society—-” ‘Id much rather prevent a cancer than have to diagnose, treat and cure it, because then we save the patient all the problems of treatment.”
